THE BAY AREA BLUES SOCIETY CARAVAN OF ALL STARS is a powerhouse review put together to showcase some of the unsung heroes of West Coast Blues. The Caravan has a loyal following due to their high profile performances at Bill Graham Presents New Orleans by the Bay, California Music Awards, AT&T San Jose Jazz Festival, Portland Waterfront Blues Festival, Monterey Bay Blues Festival and command performance for President Bill Clinton.

The Caravan has opened for and performed with Bobby Rush, Betty Wright, Etta James, Gladys Knight, The O’Jays, Robert Cray, Al Green, Bonnie Raitt, The Whispers, BB King, Buddy Guy to name a few. The Caravan was the first artist to perform and raise fund in Thailand for the tsunami survivors. The band consists of Ronne Stewart, lead guitar; Robert "Hollywood" Jenkins, rhythm guitar; Henry Williams Jr. and Dalhart Johnson, bass guitar; Rich Forman and Funky Rob Gordon, keyboards; Donnie Kountz and David "Stix" Boyette on drum; Carl Green, Geechi Taylor and James Nelson, the "Sweet Meat Horn Section." Featured vocalist include Wylie Trass, Teddy "Blues Master Watson, Terrible Tome Bowden, Tommy Nunnelly and Ella Pennewell.

Wumbloozo

Artist Bio

Wumbloozo is an all originals band with songs that are somehow instantly recognizable. You find yourself singing or humming along almost immediately. If you like songs like “Mustang Sally” you’ll love Wumbloozo. If you like the early Rolling Stones you’ll love Wumbloozo. If you like the Animals you’ll love Wumbloozo. In short, Wumbloozo is just a kick ass band! Old school rock and roll and blues like it oughta be.

Their first album, “Come Down Here” received a generous amount of airplay on independent radio all across the nation. Their third and most recent album “Caught In The Act Live From The Voodoo Cave” won the IBC best independent CD for the Los Angeles region. They have recently been tearing down houses and playing to capacity crowds, bringing everyone a great time. They headlined at the prestigious B.B. King’s Blues Club at Universal City. They opened for Alligator Records artist, Tommy Castro at Brixton Southbay and knocked out both the capacity crowd and club staff. They have been playing the southern California festival circuit including the Julian Blues Bash, Irvine Lake Blues Festival, The Santa Clarita Valley Blues Festival and many others.

Based in the Los Angeles area, the band consists of Michael Richard, songwriter, guitar and vocals; the amazing Doctor Fun on harmonica; Mark Peters on bass guitar, Ben Beckley on drums, percussion and vocals; Stan Harrison on keyboards and accordion and Greg Krueger on guitar, mandolin and dobro.

Big Papa & the TCB

RESURRECTING COOL, ONE GIN JOINT AT A TIME!

BIG PAPA AND THE TCB was born in the back alleys and seedy after hours parties in juke joints. It’s the rough part of town, where the bad folks live. It’s your inner child finally kicking that bully’s teeth in-Takin’ Care of Bizness, pure and simple.

Their song, “GO BIG PAPA!” has been used in the national television ad campaign by Papa John’s Pizza for the past two years and has been licensed for a third. It even appeared during the Superbowl! They have alsorecently had two songs appear in the hit A&E TV series, BREAKOUT KINGS.

BIG PAPA AND THE TCB has also garnered several awards. They won “Best Song” and “Best Blues Album” at the 2008 Inland Empire Music Awards for their second CD, 12 GAUGE INSURANCE PLAN. Their first disc, NICE ‘N’ GREAZY, won three 2007 Inland Empire Music Awards, including “Best Live Band,” “Best Blues Album” and “BestSong.” Likewise, they were nominated for Best Swing in the 2008 Orange County Music Awards.

Leading this rag-tag bunch of ruffians is CHRIS “BIG PAPA” THAYER, working the mic and cuttin’ heads on the six string with a ferocious blend of styles, including Louis Jordan, Albert Collins, and Robert Cray. Layin’ down the low stuff, nice ‘n’ cool, is blues veteran STEVE “ICE CREAM MAN” BROWN on bass. RAY “MR. PITTZ” WILSON is the glue that holds it all together on the skins with immense power and boyish good looks, keeping the ladies comin‘ back for a closer look.

Formed in 2006, BIG PAPA AND THE TCB have taken audiences by storm, “Resurrecting Cool” all across the Western US with their mixture of jump blues, rock and swing. They have shared the stage with blues legends like Robert Cray, Johnny Winter, Tommy Castro, Coco Montoya, Fabulous Thunderbirds, James Hunter and Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers.

Their latest CD, DANCE WITH THE DEVIL, mastered by Grammy Award winning mastering engineer, Robert Hadley of the Mastering Labs, is a 2 disc set featuring 20 new recordings. The first disc includes 10 songs performed in their “electrified” versions, and the second features the same songs in a raw, old school, downhome acoustic style. This two disc melding of past and present is their fourth full-length CD release. Previous releases include BUCKSHOT LOVE: LIVE FROM THE RHYTHM LOUNGE, 12 GAUGE INSURANCE PLAN, and NICE ‘N’ GREAZY.

5 Tempting Men

Cleveland Jones, Al Boyd, Frank Willis, Jon Mykal and Fred Iiams are the 5 Tempting Men, music in-dustry’s premier Motown tribute act who pay homage to the legendary Temptations.

Led by Los Angeles native, Cleveland Jones, The 5 Tempting Men relive Motown’s Golden era with such songs as "The Way you do the Things You Do", "My Girl", "Just My Imagination", and "Papa was a Rolling Stone." The group members close connection with the original members of the Temptations gives them a creative insight that goes beyond a typical tribute band. They have a musical and physical depth that cannot be duplicated. Jones performed as a background for former Temptations lead singer David Ruffin and the Fella's, Ruffin's breakout group after he left the Temptation to form his solo career.

Jones also worked for Jobet Records where he recorded demos for Motown. While at Jobet, he met future collaborator and singer/song writer, Al Boyd who co-wrote Temptations mega hit "Shaky Ground." Jones and Boyd formed the nucleus of "5 Tempting Men" and together with gifted vocalists, Willis, Mykal and Iiams, they melded voices in harmony and movement. Under the inspirational guid-ance of its’ musical mentors, they recreate the look and the sound of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

The 5 Tempting Men combine high stepping choreography with free flowing harmony to transport the audience to the sound of motor city. Their Las Vegas appearances has been hailed as one of the hot-test tickets in town. Unlike other tribute bands, they blend their voices with a live onstage band to re-live the best that Motown offered.

Manantial de Fuego

Manantial de Fuego (aka MDF) is an upcoming Rock en Español band from Hesperia CA. Their sound is a modern fusion of rock with latin influences of cumbia, salsa, and ska. In 2012, MDF began hitting the L.A. scene performing in renown venues such as the House of Blues, The Conga Room and Club Ember, among other venues in Hollywood.

MDF went officially public with the release of their first album "Deseos" in 2011 and in 2012 they released their second album "Amor Fatal".

A brief story...
Manantial de Fuego's band members all graduated from the same high school, Hesperia High School, each of them one year apart from the next. Marko class of '03, Gustavo class of '04, Rafa class of '05, and Elias class of '06. Though all of them were attending the same school at one particular year, none of them knew at the time that they would become one band in years to come.

In 2004 Marko had gotten together with some friends to jam out at his house. Elias was invited by one of them to come and join them. Manantial de Fuego was born from that. The band played heavy metal and started doing back yard shows. Eventually they began playing Rock en Español covers and in less than a couple of years became one of the official bands of a Rock en Español radio station in Los Angeles CA that organized rock shows at popular clubs.

By 2008 Manantial de Fuego had decided to record an album with original tracks written by lead singer Elias Valencia. On their way to the recording studio, Elias had a car accident. The driver, a band member, had fallen asleep at the wheel and flipped the truck several time on the freeway. Both members survived but the accident brought a lot of tension between the members and several months later MDF broke up. Marko and Elias parted ways and went on living their own lives.

When Rafa heard the news about Manantial de Fuego's break up he was disappointed. As a fan, Rafa had followed MDF since their first appearances at Hesperia High School talent shows and house parties. He was about to be given the chance to try out as a guitarist for Manantial but that hope was short lived due to MDF unexpected break up.
Three years later Manantial de Fuego decides to give it another try. This time recruiting Rafa as the band's guitarist. Months later Rafa discovers that his true instrument is the bass.

Elias, Marko, and Rafa started playing shows and slowly but surely began picking up momentum and were happy to find out that MDF's fans were still there, devoted and excited as always. Finally, in 2012, MDF recruits Gustavo as the keyboard player. With the addition of this new member, the band was able to enhance their sound, bringing to their audience a more refine and diverse Manantial de Fuego.

The Blue Henrys

The Blue Henrys put their own twist on Chicago Blues well-knowns such as Muddy Waters,Howlin' Wolf,Willie Dixon,Freddie King,Little Walterand Junior Wellsjust to name a few. But their unique spin on these and other great rock & roll artists is what keeps fans coming back. Not only do they entertain with great arrangements of blues and rock legends, their own songwriting and arranging hits the mark of original in a big way with “Shes’s Still Lovin’ Me”, “Change His Mind,” “She’s Gone,” “Always In My Heart” & “As A Matter Of Fact,” being among crowd favorites wherever they play. The fun factor is always high when the Blue Henrys kick it into gear. What makes the Blue Henrys unique beyond the material they cover is that they achieve a bigger band sound with two guitars and the addition of a small but mighty horn section enabling them to explore the Jump Blues sound. With their feet planted firmly in the blues and open invitation to play the backwoods of the bayou to L.A. anytime they like, the Blue Henrys are ultimately one the most enjoyable bands around.

Ray Brooks and the Blues Masters

Blues at its Best

Ray Brooks has wowed audiences with his distinct sound of blended blues for nearly five decades. Though he began his career playing and singing at the local “Cloud 9” club in Corpus Christi, Texas, his music is heaven on earth for generations of blues aficionados, music patrons and legendary musicians.

In his early career, he worked throughout southwest Texas, backing up award winning artists Floyd Dixon and legendary blues kingpin, Clarence “Gate Mouth” Brown. Still in Texas, he later worked with Freddie King and the great Buster Smith.

After relocating to Los Angeles, he became a local fixture at popular clubs and venues in the Southland. In 1968 Ray co-wrote the song, "Burbank Brown," that appeared in the popular motion picture, Bob, Carol, Ted & Alice. In 1979, Brooks was nominated for a Blues Grammy for his recording of "Walk Out Like A Lady.”

Brooks later joined the prestigious Harrah’s Club tour with music nobility, Billy Preston. While working with the Cashears, he was part of the opening act for Tina Turner’s celebrated South African tour. Regarded as a premiere guitarists, Brooks has worked with the industries top musical acts and artists.

Beyond his guitar, Brooks has been featured in both print and television media—most notably costarring with French mega star and icon, Johnny Hallyday, in French commercial television. past several years has seen him aweing audiences at clubs, concerts and festivals throughout Europe and the States.

Detour 91 and Chase Walker Band

The old idiom, "out of the mouths of babes" has never proved truer and the sounds have never been sweeter!

The Chase Walker Band is the next generation of the blues. Comprised of three young musicians, 13 year old Chase Walker on vocals and guitar,15 year old Savannah Sanchez on vocals and bass, and 19 year old Josh Guerrero on drums, their soulful sound and performance is polished well beyond their collective years bringing audiences to their feet. Chase and Savannah met each other while attending Chicago's Blues Kids of America musicians camp and they have been playing together ever since. Josh joined the two recently to compete the trio. The Chase Walker Band's influences of Texas, Chicago & Louisiana blues can be heard in the songs they play. Although this band is comprised of teenagers, they play like seasoned pros. Detour 91

Detour 91 is a group of young musicians between the ages of 14 and 16 who play Blues and Rock music. They met at Fernando Jones' Blues Kids of America camp and for most of them, the Blues was a genre they never heard of before. But once they were introduced to the Blues they were captivated; and if you listen to them perform, they sound like they've been singing this soul stirring music for a long time. They have and continue to perform to cheering crowds in California and Chicago.
